Initiative makes free life-saving pet oxygen mask kits available to fire and EMS departments during month of October

The Wag’N O2 Fur Life Initiative is making it easier for first responders to keep pets safe before the launch of the 2019-2020 holiday season by providing free pet oxygen mask kits to fire and EMS departments that do not have the funding to obtain their own.

“This year we have enough to give out 20 kits,” said Ines de Pablo, president of Wag’N O2 Fur Life.

Fire and EMS officials can make their donation requests from Oct. 1 to 25 at the following link: https://www.petoxygenmasks.org/fellowship.html

Pablo also stated that, due to sponsor support, free shipping is available on orders placed during October. “Every year since 2009, McCulloch Medical generously covers all shipping costs for first responder and sponsor pet oxygen mask kit orders placed between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31,” Pablo said, adding that there is “no better time of year to raise awareness about fire safety and animal rescue than during National Fire Safety Awareness Month.”

Wag’n O2 Fur Life was created by de Pablo in 2008 when she realized that aftercare of pets rescued from emergencies, such as fires, was something that most first responders weren’t equipped to handle.  Most humans require oxygen after an emergency, and pets are no different, de Pablo said.

Pet oxygen mask kits include three different size masks that allow oxygen to be administered to animals of any size – from hamster to foal.

A demonstration on how these masks are used may be viewed below:

“We find that incident mitigation, combined with pet oxygen mask kits, can help save countless pet lives. This equipment has saved hundreds of animals since the program launched,” de Pablo said.

Happy Love Your Pet Day!

Yes, today, Feb. 20, is Love Your Pet Day. And we have two exciting things to report…

First, we got our first bag of Pretty Litter. We have never been so excited about cat litter before! One bag per cat is supposed to last per month and it also changes color as your cat uses it to help you keep tabs on your cat’s health. We can’t wait to see how it works, and we will post more about this later.

And, secondly, we also recently received our free sample of I and Love and You dog food.

As you can see, it came in a really nice little package and our dogs made quick work of testing out the sample, which they really seemed to like. You can enter to win one of their pet meal toppers here: https://www.iandloveandyou.com/blog/2019/topper-giveaway

We hope you and your pet(s) have had a great day!

And don’t forget, for more pet-related dates, you can download a free copy of our calendar here: https://wowmypetdidthat.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/wowmypetdidthatcalendar2019-2.pdf
