February might be a short month, but it’s a big month for pets inasmuch as noteworthy dates.
While the following might not be well known holidays, nor will you likely get the day off of work to celebrate them, they are still worth partaking in:
- Feb. 14 is Valentine’s Day, but love will still be on the agenda on Feb. 20, which is Love Your Pet Day.
According to holidayinsights.com, Love Your Pet Day is day to pamper your pet and to give them lots of love and attention.
Special treats, lots of petting or maybe a new pet bed are all perks that could potentially be lavished on our furry friends. And, it’s also a good day to contemplate how much happiness our pets brings us, which was part of the intention of the day’s founder.
According to holidayscalendar.com, “National Pet Day was founded by Colleen Paige – an Animal Welfare Advocate and Pet Lifestyle Expert – in 2006 to celebrate pets and the joy they bring into our homes. She also created the day to shine a spotlight on the plight of the many types of animals which are in shelters all over the planet.”
- Feb. 22 is Walking the Dog Day. Even if you already walk your dog regularly, try making it extra special on the 22nd with a longer route at a more relaxed pace or somewhere scenic.
- International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day is a bit of a mouthful (pun intended) when it comes to special date names.
We weren’t able to track down the original of this special day, which falls on Feb. 23, but it is basically a day for giving your dog some dog biscuits whilst apparently appreciating said giving of biscuits.
Perhaps it’s also a day to consider how far we have come in advancing the dog biscuit. According to oneofakindpets.com, dog treats used to include stale, moldy bread, rotting leftovers and rock-hard biscuits made out of grain.
It also sounds like a date to keep an eye out for special promotions from dog biscuit manufacturers, which might save you some money on your pup’s favorite treat.
And, you could also use the day to bake some biscuits from scratch using our recipe, which dogs love!
