We learned today that the Dog Writers Association of America is accepting award nominations for the DWAA 2020 Writing Competition.
It was only this past February, that we attended the awards ceremony for the DWAA 2019 competition in New Jersey. We had a great time meeting other dog lovers, writers, and other people involved in the dog world at that event. It seems like just a very short time ago and yet, in other ways, it seems like so much time has passed due to how much has happened in the world since then.
Although we would love to attend another ceremony in person, it looks like that won’t be the case in 2021. The DWAA is already planning next year’s event, which will be a virtual one held online on Feb. 14, 2021. The 2020 writing competition winners will be revealed during that online ceremony.
There are a broad number of categories that entered, including multiple types of entries for magazines and online.
Other categories include:
•Video or TV Broadcasts
•Radio or Other Audio

There are also 21 Special Awards categories totaling over $11,000 to be given out to the winners. (More info here.)
The competition is open to all (members and non members) writers, editors, publishers, photographers, artists and others whose work falls into the designated competition categories worldwide. Only original work published between Sept. 1, 2019 and Aug. 31, 2020 is eligible. Submissions begin July 6, 2020 and the competition closes for online entries on Sept. 6, 2020 at 6 p.m. EST. Good luck to all who enter as well as your furry, four-legged muses!
