Get your leashes ready. If your dog(s) is/are anything like ours, you won’t have to get them ready, though. They’ll be standing by the door. That’s because they love a good walk and National Walk Your Dog Week is coming up soon — Oct. 1 through 7 to be exact.

National Walk Your Dog Week was created by Pet Lifestyle Expert Colleen Paige to help increase awareness about the dangers of pet obesity and to encourage people to adopt a shelter dog and start walking. According to her website, Paige is also the creator of other pet-related “holidays,” such as National Dog Day, National Cat Day, National Puppy Day and National Pet Day.
