Let’s face it — sometimes the idea of walking your dog is less than appealing, especially if you are tired after a long day at work or it’s cold or raining outside.
But, regular walks are super important for keeping our beloved pups in shape. Not to mention the fact that most dogs LOVE walks. Maybe it’s just getting out and moving; maybe it’s all the different smells; maybe it’s the excitement of spending time with you! But whatever it is that draws them to the activity, most dogs need little motivation when it comes to a walk.
With that in mind, we have put together a list of some great songs that you can listen to via earbuds when walking your dog. The first few are great motivators to help you get out there and moving with your dog and the rest will likely make the walk more enjoyable in general.
Of course, please only listen to music while walking your dog when it’s safe to do so. Make sure that you can hear traffic and other important sounds when necessary for safety! So, if you are in a park area or on a trail, cue the following songs!
- Beethoven Vs Chemical Brothers – Symphony No. 5 Vs Galvanize, Djs From Mars Bootleg:
Yes, this is actually a mix of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 with the Chemical Brothers’ song Galvanize!
And we personally find it very, well, galvanizing. This one is good for getting you up and out the door, and totally motivated to get Fido some exercise.
And the video is cool too.
- Aerosmith vs Red Hot Chili Peppers vs Chemical Bro’s – by ScottyMack
This is a mix of the Aerosmith classic, “Walk this Way,” and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Give it Away,” and a Chemical Brothers’ song.
You might have your doubts about this, until about 15 seconds in, after which you will find yourself fighting the urge to full out dance along with the beat.
-
The Beatles vs. Joan Jett vs. Cypress Hill vs. House Of Pain vs. Rage Against The Machine Mashup
This may be from collegehumor.com or it may be djfaroff. Either way, it’s another upbeat mix of songs you never thought would sound good together.
When you’re ready to slow down and enjoy the scenery, and by this time your dog probably won’t be straining at the leash anymore, the following songs should do the trick:
- Billy Joel – Elegy: The Great Peconic
This is sort of a lesser known work of Billy Joel. There are no vocals, but it is quite lovely to listen to and almost makes you feel like you are part of a movie as you a hearing it.
- Song of the Sea Lullaby by Nolween Leroy and simplymagnificent.com.
A relaxing and pretty song sung quite well by Nolween Leroy.
- Kecharitomene from the album An Ancient Muse by Loreena McKennitt.
This is another lovely and moving piece of music without vocals that will make you feel like you are in a movie, only this time one with more of an international and mysterious vibe.
Or you might just like the beat. 🙂
Let us know what you think of this list, and also if you have any suggestions for additions or songs you love to listen to when walking your dog(s), or other pets!
