For this post I decided to do something a little different. Instead of posting about a pet event or pet news, I thought it would be fun to go to a local thrift store and and see if I could find any pet-related decor.
I went to my local Salvation Army thrift store and took a look around. There were a lot of holiday items out, so it did make it little more difficult to find regular household decor, and I did get sidetracked and ended up buying some Santa statues and ornaments.
However, I came across this really adorable plate with kittens on it and immediately knew it was coming home with me. The price was $1.99, which was amazing, given that the plate is in perfect (or should I say purr-fect) condition.

The four kittens playing by the water are adorable and there’s lot of nice detail. So, did I come across a rare find worth big bucks?
Not exactly. From what I could find by searching Google Lens, this plate is available from a lot of etsy, ebay and other sellers and the price ranges from about $6 to about $30.
Based on information from a Google search and from the back of the plate, here is some information about it:

- It’s a Bradford Exchange collector plate called “Kittens at Water Lilly Pond,” and it was created in 1996.
- The size is 8×8 inches.
- The artwork is by Jurgen Scholz a freelance artist who is known for capturing the likenesses of puppies and kittens, creating illustration for dinnerware that is popular in Germany and the U.S.
While I didn’t strike it rich, I did have a lot of fun looking for pet decor and I really like this plate. I need to get a plate holder and then I’m going to display it in my curio cabinet, where I already have other pet related items and various other collectibles.

I definitely plan to do more thrifting in the near future and will let you know if I add anything else pet-related to the collection.
That was a good find. I like to look in stores that sell vintage stuff for cat things too.
I like when I find a good cat sculpture or statue that is in a unique style.
Those look like fun finds and that plate is really, really cute!
Thanks. It’s even cuter in person. My camera doesn’t take very good pictures.
